Stool Composition
Composition of Fecal Matter
By extracting all the moisture from our daily excrement and analyzing the constituents of the remaining residue, it becomes evident that bacteria comprise the majority.
Roughly 50-60% of the composition of feces is attributed to intestinal bacteria, followed by 15-20% intestinal epithelial cells, while the remaining portion consists of food waste. As bacteria represent the largest proportion of fecal components, the diverse distribution of bacteria in the intestinal tract has a significant impact on intestinal health.
While having an abundance of beneficial bacteria is desirable, the variety of strains is even more crucial. In the treatment of patients, a considerable number of lactic acid bacteria are utilized.
Usually, when recommending nutritional supplements, a single high-quality product is suggested for each type, whereas in the case of lactic acid bacteria, several types are recommended. This is because the effectiveness of different lactobacillus products varies depending on the patient's intestinal condition. For some patients, lactobacillus A may be the most suitable option, while lactobacillus B may be more appropriate for others.
During the course of treatment, it is advisable to consistently consume a lactobacillus strain that matches your needs. However, once you have recovered, it is preferable to incorporate a diverse range of lactic acid bacteria into your daily regimen.
